Why would God put Such a Forbidden Tree in Perfect Paradise?
It is To Show Man How Authentic His Free Will Is!
Two Trees!
“And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
[9] And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” Genesis 2:8-9 KJV
Do you know that there were actually two trees in the middle of the garden?
The tree of life, which God allowed Adam and Eve to eat from,
and The tree of knowledge of good and evil, which God did not allow them to eat from.
Why would God put such a forbidden tree in perfect paradise?
I believe it is to show man how authentic his free will is.
God did not make us mindless biomechanicals.
Man was given the freedom to choose to follow God or not.
What is amazing is that we are the only creatures to whom God gave the privilege of free will.
Sadly, Adam and Eve chose to disobey God; so, came the fall of man.
Our choices will always come with their own consequences.
Why would God put Such a Forbidden Tree in Perfect Paradise?
Beloved, whenever we face temptations of many kinds, we must remind ourselves not to abuse the gift of free will.
We have a benevolent God,
but we should also remember that He is also just and righteous. Consequences will always follow accordingly.
But by His grace, we are always given a chance to go back to the path He has set for us.
May we choose to disregard temptations and listen to God.
Genesis 2:8-9 KJV
[8] And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
[9] And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food;
the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Let Us Pray:
Lord, I am sorry if I listened to the flesh at times and chose its desires.
Help me to overcome my sinful desires so that I may not offend You.
I want to live my life as a worship of You.
May I use the gift of free will in ways that will honor You. Let Your will be done, not mine. Amen!
