What Is My Value?
Our value is so connected to the Creator that when we disconnect, we basically begin to die.
I know that seems like a bold statement but stick with me.

Friend, don’t ever forget that: God loves you.
That is the basis for your God-value and God-worth.
I will say it again: You are worth the price of God Himself.
It has been said that mankind, being created in God’s image, is like God mentally, morally, and socially.
Mentally we are like God because we have intellect and the ability to choose.
We are like God morally because we know right from wrong. And We understand innocence and guilt.
Finally, we are like God socially because we were created for fellowship, with the ability to love.
We have been created by God in a unique way and for a unique purpose.
As long as we are connected to Him, we can fulfill that purpose and be a blessing in this world.
What Is My Value?
What is my value? Where do i find worth?
In a world full of misguided values, your true worth is only found in one place.
Your value is in the Creator of the Universe, God Himself. Discover how precious you are in His sight.
Matthew 10:29-31 KJV
[29] Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
[30] But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
[31] Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
“What is my value? Where do I find worth?”
These are questions that we all have.
I believe the struggle to answer these pressing questions of life exists because we are asking the wrong questions.
We are not really asking, “What is my value?” Rather, we are asking, “Where does my value come from?”
This is a question that requires an answer.
If we get the answer wrong, we are not going to live a life of joy and fulfillment.
We will not be able to fulfill God’s desires for our lives because we will be seeking our worth and value in all of the wrong places.
There is an old story told of an auction where the last item to be auctioned off was an old, dusty violin.
The auctioneer started the bidding at just a few dollars, yet there were no bids for it.
Finally, an older gentleman stepped forward, gently picked up the violin and dusted it off.
He tightened the strings, tuning it just right.
Then, he picked up the bow and played the most beautiful, heartwarming melody.
When the last note faded, the auctioneer immediately raised the starting bid from three dollars to three thousand dollars.
What made the difference? The violin was in the hands of a master violinist.
How does that connect to our value?
Each of us has an incredible value — the price of God Himself.
We have been created by God for a purpose.
If we do not understand where our value comes from, our focus in life will be confused.
We will not have the proper understanding required for the purpose and beauty that God created us to fulfill.
Here is the key: Our value is inextricably linked to the Master, the One Who created us. That is the truth that we need to keep in mind throughout life.
Our value is so connected to the Creator that when we disconnect, we basically begin to die. I know that seems like a bold statement but stick with me.
In Genesis chapter one we find the story of Creation.
God first created an orb of water, and then parted the sea and dry land.
It tells us that God saw that the dry land was good; why would He call dirt good?
In this dirt, God created all the living plants, trees, and grass to not only be anchored in the dirt, but also to be nourished by the ground with water and nutrients.
Have you ever seen a plant disconnected from the soil?
In a day or less, it does not look so good. Without that connection, it begins to wither and die.
When you remove a plant from the soil, you disconnect the relationship that God has designed for the plant and the ground.
A few verses later in Genesis chapter one, we find that after creating all of the amazing and incredible creatures on earth, God created man.
Not from a monkey, not from a blob, but created in God’s own image.
Just like the trees are connected to the soil, we are created with a connection to God. As long as we are connected to Him, we have our value and our worth.
What Is My Value?
It has been said that mankind, being created in God’s image, is like God mentally, morally, and socially.
Mentally we are like God because we have intellect and the ability to choose.
We are like God morally because we know right from wrong. And We understand innocence and guilt.

We have been created by God in a unique way and for a unique purpose.
As long as we are connected to Him, we can fulfill that purpose and be a blessing in this world.
Genesis 1:26-28 KJV
[26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
[28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:
and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
What Is My Value?
Not only are we created in God’s image, but in Genesis chapter two, we are given more details about that Creation.
Verse seven tells us that the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground.
Can I make another bold statement?
If we are seeking self-esteem, self-worth, and self-value, we are putting value and worth on dirt.
God formed us from the dust of the ground, and when we die, our bodies will return to dust.
Being created from the dust of the ground is unique.
During creation, God spoke everything else into existence.
But when it came to mankind, God formed man from the dust of the ground with His hands.
Then, He breathed the breath of life into man’s nostrils, and man became a living soul.
We are different from anything else that God created.
And We are not an evolutionary accident. We were made by God for a purpose.
Just as ripping a tree out of the ground breaks its connection and causes it to die, our connection to God was ripped apart in the Garden of Eden.
In Genesis chapter three, the devil tempted Eve, she believed his lie, Adam sinned with her, and mankind’s connection with God was severed.
What really happened with Satan’s temptation of Eve? Satan’s lie was that God was holding out on Adam and Eve.
His first recorded words were, “Did God really say…?”
His lie to Eve was that she was being duped. She could be God. And She didn’t have to listen to Him.
Also, She didn’t have to obey Him. Yes, He’s gave her this great garden, but why would He keep her from that one tree?
Eve’s response was that God told them not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and not to touch it.
She added to God’s Word.
When we add to God’s Word, we are questioning God. We must be accurate with God’s words.
The real temptation is to doubt God or to believe that He is holding out on us.
If we ever have doubt about our value and our worth,
or we start to chase after some sort of prestige, fame, or a certain type of car or family that we think will give us value and worth,
what we are really doing is doubting and questioning God.
We no longer have that connection to Him.
When we do that, our value gets all messed up and we will keep chasing things that do not give true value or worth.
Because of sin, our connection with God has been ripped apart.
We cannot fix that ourselves. No matter how hard we try, we cannot reconnect to God by ourselves.
Moreover, We can try to do everything we can to find value, fulfillment, and worth.
We think, “If I just had the perfect spouse, then I’d find value.
If I can just have the perfect children, that will give me worth.
Or, If I can provide the perfect, ‘Insta-worthy’ house, or perfect car, perfect looks, or vacation experience, I will finally find value.”
No, we can’t.
Those things will not bring us self-value or self-worth.
What should we do instead?
Search for God-worth, God-value, and God-esteem.
That is the proper way to put it.
We can talk about our value, our worth, and our esteem,
but we cannot say “self” because that is what Satan did,
that is what he deceived Adam and Eve into doing,
and that is the cause of all of the problems and misery that has been brought upon the human race.
How do we find this God-worth?
And How do we properly restore that connection to God?
God has made the way,
How do we restore our connection to God?
And How do we find God-worth, God-value, and God-esteem?
The truth is that we cannot restore our connection to God. It is a work that only God can do, but because He loves us, He did just that.
What Is My Value?
So, How much does God love us?
He loves us so much that He took the curse of sin upon Himself, hanging on a cross to pay for our sin.
What does that mean?
That means our value is incredible.
When we get to feeling like no one likes us or cares about us, that we are worth nothing,
or that our value is based on our perfect kids, spouse, or perfect Instagram life, we are wrong.
None of those things are real.
What is real is that the God of all glory, Who created us in His image, Who made us to be connected to Him, came and restored the connection that we broke.
Why did He do that?
Because He loved us.
It has been said that if you were the only one alive, Jesus still would have died for you.
Is there value in knowing that?
Actually, I think that is all the value that we need.
Romans 5:7–8 tells us that, For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God demonstrated, or showcased, His incredible love for us by dying in our place.
According to the Scriptures, our value is this: We are worth the price of God Himself.
God’s value for us does not just end at the moment of salvation.
Every day, He is working in our lives to make us more and more like His Son, Jesus.
According to Jeremiah 29:11, His thoughts towards us are thoughts of peace, and not of evil.
He has an expected end, a specific plan for each of us.
I realize that many reading this have experienced heartache and hardship in life, and may not feel like God has good thoughts toward them,
but He promises that He does.
When we start to doubt our value, we should ask ourselves this: Am I more valuable than a sparrow?
Matthew 10:29 tells us that a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without God knowing about it,
and that we are of more value than the sparrows.
What Is My Value?
So, if God is concerned about the sparrows, and we are more valuable to Him than the sparrows,
then our God-value and God-worth is found in our connection with Him.
When we begin to feel alone,
or that we are not valuable or appreciated, we must remember the promise in Hebrews 13:5–6 that He will never leave us or forsake us.
When we have that connection with Him, we can boldy say, …the Lord is my helper. I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
1 John 4:16–19 reminds us of the truth of how much God loves us.
If we can always hang on to that truth, we will never have to worry about self-esteem, self-worth, and self-value.
We will never have to live in fear of losing His love or our salvation.
And We can live in confidence and value and love Him because He first loved us.
Friend, don’t ever forget that: God loves you.
That is the basis for your God-value and God-worth.
I will say it again: You are worth the price of God Himself.
