There’s Power in the Blood
Have you ever sang the phrase of the popular hymn, “O the Blood of Jesus, it washes white as snow?”
Sometimes, I find myself in this category,
we might sing and listen to a song but might not know the actual symbols and cultural norms of its significance.
Blood is used multiple times in the Bible including sacrifice,
protection, preservation, and the ultimate covering for Christ-followers, Jesus’ death and resurrection.
With Christ’s resurrection, this gave us freedom over sin,
and we can serve Him without depending on works via yearly sacrifices, which was common in the Old Testament.
One verse found in the Old Testament says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood.”
It’s important to note that many might consider blood to signify death, but in actuality, blood is necessary for life.
Did you know there are ways to improve the quality of your own blood that in turn would improve your overall health?
As the body of Christ, all blood is made of the same elements, but not all blood is alike.
The types of blood are O, A, B, AB, with + and – correlations.
Regardless of “type”, foods with iron, like dark greens and seeds, and folate,
including turkey, asparagus, spinach, and broccoli can help improve the quality of our blood.
Today as you read this, I also pray that Christ’s blood covers you in all areas of your life, especially heart health.
This message was created to help guide you in the exploration of the Bible.
While healthy lifestyle ideas may be presented, we recommend consulting your physician before making any changes to your diet or exercise routine.
Leviticus 17:11 KJV
[11] For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

What’s Love Got To Do With It?
“I love you.”
How often do you say those three words, and how often does someone say them to you?
In Scripture, the concept and action of love are one of the fundamental truths of being a Christ-follower,
but the actual phrase “I love you,” is only verbalized a few times.
In Psalms, David shares,
“I love You, O Lord, my strength,”
and in the New Testament, Peter tells Jesus, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”
During the month of February, love is marketed to the masses to make sure our loved ones or potential loved ones know we love them by buying “stuff.”
One of the radio and television advertisements of a jewelry company during this time has a memorable slogan of “Go straight to the heart.”
It’s safe to assume they are talking about our emotional and not physical heart,
but what if I told you that our emotions, including anger, do affect our heart’s health.
From my forty years of experience,
if you are someone who finds themselves to have consistent “bad” days emotionally,
these can create an acid environment in your body that depletes B vitamins and essential minerals, both of which sustain proper heart valve function.
Stress caused by emotions can also be the source of health palpitations. If this is the case, minerals, like Celtic Sea Salt can help.
One of the opposite emotions of love is anger,
and in James, we are told: “Anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.”
Anger is an emotion that springs from the depths of the liver.
Your liver is a very significant player in one’s immune system.
The liver not only has cells specializing in destroying unfriendly “attackers” in the form of viruses and bacteria,
but it is also the storehouse for the fat-soluble vitamins- A, D, E, and K.
Vitamin A is found in many whole foods and vegetables, but one stands out more than all the others: Carrots.
Carrots have over two hundred known nutrients that support and create life in our bodies.
The vitamin A precursor found in carrots is very critical for an optimal immune system and one of the reasons I suggest carrots in the sequence of Dr. Bob’s ABC’s.
Eating carrots is one of the many logical steps you can do during any season.
I eat one medium carrot every day. My sinuses are clear, also, my lungs are clear, and my skin is clear.
My practice members also tell me the same thing.
Carrots are your liver’s friends. Just as love is an action, begin to take charge of the care of your heart and liver.
Psalm 18:1 KJV
[1] I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

The Beat Goes On
One of the Bible’s most well-known verses is found in Joshua 1, where God says,
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
How often do we need God’s strength?
For me, it’s every day in all aspects of my life.
I also need God’s strength when it comes to my personal health, including finding the motivation to take care of my body in the form of exercise.
There are many types of exercise, and one that is most common in Scripture is walking.
God is an avid promoter of putting one foot in front of the other,
and usually, when He talks to those in the Bible, it’s in the form of “Walk to ____ “,
or “Take up your mat and go (walk).”
Walking is also a form of aerobic and cardio exercise, both benefitting the strength of your heart.
Some of the ways these exercises help your heart include losing weight, improving cholesterol, and lowering blood pressure.
My encouragement and prayer for you today is to ask for God’s strength and to move for at least thirty minutes.
Genesis 13:17 KJV
[17] Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

Do Not Worry
When my sons were growing up, one of their VHS tapes (remember those?) that would often play in our house had a song that went,
“I cast all my cares upon you.
I lay every burden down at your feet,
and anytime I don’t know what to do, I will cast all my cares upon you.”
Looking back, that song definitely will make your throat choke up,
but, in reality, those simple words are exactly what God wants us to do: Cast your cares upon Him.
However, our human nature is to be proud and self-reliant, and having the humility to do so takes practice.
I have seen the effects of worry and stress at my practice in almost epic proportions.
Because of food choices, there is the stress created by a hectic and over-committed lifestyle.
Stress compounds the problems with your heart;
not only can it cause your body to become acid, but it can also elevate cortisol, which is secreted by your adrenal glands in times of emergency.
This can lead to increased fluid retention and high blood pressure.
The best way to lower your stress level is by learning to say, “No”.
Stop doing everything you are asked to do.
It is time for a rest.
Also, plan your meals in advance with plenty of vegetables that will not raise your blood sugar, so you will not be rushed and buy unhealthy processed foods.
Lastly, cast your cares upon the Lord, and ask Him what areas of your life need to be put on pause to rest your heart and health.
Proverbs 12:15 KJV
[15] The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: But he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

What’s Causing The Fire?
Has someone ever told you something they thought was in the Bible,
and you believed them for many years, but upon growing up in your personal faith walk, you realized it was not correct?
For example, there was a time I thought I would only get into heaven if I was a really good person and attend a church service once a week.
It’s true, we are told in Psalms 37 to do good,
but our salvation comes from inviting Jesus as our Savior, receiving His grace, and building a relationship with Him.
That part did not come easily since I had been living by “rules” I thought to be true.
It was only when I began to renew my mind, I had a shift in my perspective.
The same misconceptions can be said for various health topics.
For instance, did you know cholesterol is an alcohol and not a fat?
I have found in my practice that practice members are afraid of the word “cholesterol” without knowing that it has a purpose to help our bodies and not hurt it.
One of the best ways to help your cholesterol and heart is to help reduce inflammation (fire) that can be found from eating trans fats (partially hydrogenated oils)
and sugar and replacing it with healthy oils like flax, and coconut.
Eggs can be another misconception in regards to cholesterol.
I encourage eating eggs because their yolks have a component called choline which helps emulsify fat and cholesterol.
As this message comes to a close, I pray for physical strength for your heart, and a renewed strength for your spiritual heart as well.
Be Blessed!
