To control traffic during the ember months, the Federal Road Safety Corps Zamfara Sector Command sent out 1,000 personnel on a special patrol.
This was disclosed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Monday by Sector Commander Mr. Iro Danladi.
According to Danladi, 1,000 people were stationed along the main thoroughfares to deal with potential traffic jams during the upcoming winter months.
The theme for this year is “Avoid Speeding, Overloading, and Unsafe Tyres to Arrive alive,” and he claimed that these offenses were the focus of the operation.
The sector commander further stated that the command would investigate all possibilities to educate the driving public through public awareness campaigns at motor parks, media outlets, Mosques, and churches.
In order to strengthen operational activities and ensure strict enforcement of such serious offenses, he further stated that the command would work with other sister security agencies and other stakeholders.
These offenses include driving while intoxicated, excessive smoke, overloading, speeding, worn-out tires, and route violations.
The commander warned drivers to drive carefully and to arrive alive so they could celebrate as only the living could.
