From Silence to Success: The Importance of Discernment.
Proverbs 18:13 KJV
[13] He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, It is folly and shame unto him.
One lesson I’ve had to learn the hard way is that not everyone is praying for my success. Not every question needs an answer. Not every statement requires a response.
The most intelligent and successful people in the world are not afraid of silence, Why? Because saying the wrong thing in haste is usually a costly mistake.
We have more ways than ever to stay connected nowadays, yet communication is still unclear at best.
Why is that?
We don’t listen. And how could we?
The soundtrack to our lives is composed of beeps, bops, and pings!
These distractions don’t just interrupt our human interactions; they take our attention away from our Divine connection, too.
I recently spent some time in silence.
And I enrolled in a silent retreat in order to remove the distractions from my surroundings,
and reconnect with myself, my Father, and the mission He’s placed on my heart.
This might’ve been the best thing I’ve ever done.

You see, what we forget is even if we don’t realize it, people are watching and listening to us.
As children of Christ, we’re called to show God’s love on a daily basis, even when it’s hard.
Especially when it’s hard.
When we don’t take the time to think before we speak or invest moments to truly listen, we do ourselves and our Father a great disservice.
Your words. And Your reaction. Also, Your gestures. They can either bring someone closer to God or push them away.
I encourage you to stop, think, pray, and listen before you respond.
Can you think of any communication mishaps you could’ve avoided if you’d tapped into your God frequency before responding?
One lesson I’ve had to learn the hard way is that not everyone is praying for my success.
That, and there are way more folks wishing harm than I ever could’ve imagined.
Whether it’s jealousy or actual malice, it’s important to practice divine discernment when speaking about our goals and plans for the future.
As much as we try to protect our circle, there are certain energies that can sneak in and deter and distract you from God’s plan for you.
Silence to success means understanding when to speak, what to share, and with whom you share your mission.
There’s a time for silence, and there’s a time to speak.
Pray for discretion and discernment to know when it’s wise to do both.

Let Us Pray:
Lord, we come to you with a spirit of humility and seeking both wisdom and discernment.
We recognize the plans You have for us are great, and we ask that you put us in circles that encourage us to do Your will and not distract us.
In Jesus’ holy name, we pray. Amen.
Ecclesiastes 3:7 KJV
[7] a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
Not every question needs an answer. Not every statement requires a response.
The most intelligent and successful people in the world are not afraid of silence.
Why?
Because saying the wrong thing in haste is usually a costly mistake.
The Bible defines discernment as understanding through the Spirit.
And The gift of discernment allows you to tap into the will of the Holy Father through active listening, prayer, and consideration.
Unfortunately, those signals get crossed and muffled by external distractions and our desire to respond immediately.
Take your time. Listen. Pray. Listen again.
You’ll be amazed at what God is able to reveal to you when you take the time to listen with intention.

I encourage you the next time you are confronted with a challenging question that you count to ten, take a breath, and then respond.
And when in doubt, talk to the Father. This is a sign of true wisdom.
Proverbs 17:28 KJV
[28] Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: And he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
