Diademng, a Nigerian faith-based media platform recently launched its website to heal, help, uplift and restore quality information to the public. Diademng’s Juliana Ajayi and Matthew Asabor write about this event.
What started as a vision a decade ago has evidently impacted lives and families. With a zeal for positive impact in a society where biased and fake news are peddled without conscience, Diademng has set out to be the voice of the society.
It was a Thursday morning, the 15th of December when the Diademng editorial team and others gathered to celebrate and announce the opening of the platform.
For ten years Diadem publication had lived to its name: a jeweled crown that standing as a symbol of authority and sovereignty.
The publication recently revitalised its strength and came out on eagle’s wing to express its savour, vigour and place in society as a jewel to behold and admire by re-branding the publication in order to fit into the present day realities and adding more colours and vitality to it.
The Publisher, Mr Emmanuel Ehinola said at the re-launch/thanksgiving ceremony: “For over ten years in publication, we have made positive impacts by using testimonies of God’s grace to influence the society by providing a well and professionally compiled testimonies edition on monthly basis, downloadable and freely rebuilding the society on a solid foundation of the fear of God, love for one another and living by the golden rule (Do unto others, as you want others to do unto you)
“Today, Diadem is not just a publication of compiled testimonies but a compilation of news stories, health pages, trials and triumphs of individuals, editorials, etc. which therefore called for re-branding yet not losing the original purpose of its existence.
He explained how Diademng had reached out to many nations, offices, prisons, and households through testimonies of God’s grace in the lives of men, and women and providing counseling and numerous help to those in need.
“The publication is a one-stop platform for the truth and only the truth for getting proper counseling and helps on issues of life, as the moral decadence prevailing over nations is alarming. Nations have lost values, dignity, and hope. However, through testimonies of God’s grace on mankind, there is hope for the world on the anchor of the fear of God and love for one another,” Ehinola added.
In his remark, the Editor-in-Chief and General Manager, Diademng, Mr. Paul Dada, described the media as the fourth estate of the realm saddled with the function of a watchdog of society, and in performing this function, it has the tripartite role of informing, educating and entertaining the masses.
Dada said the press is not just the fourth estate of the realm; it is the last estate of the realm, as we live in a “society where institutions, political, economic, social, and religious are collapsing”.
He said unscrupulous men and women have become juggernauts and become stronger than the institutions.
He stated that it is pathetic that the media is now “at the mercy of the whims, caprices, shenanigans, and mind-boggling perfidy of depraved men and women, as this is a wake-up call for the media to be a change agent, to deliver the society from been devoured by wolves in sheep’s clothing”.
He said that while many journalists have tried to keep their heads above the water but many also have allowed the insatiable lust for lucre and illicit gratification to cause them to lose the ability to be the conscience of society.
“At Diademng we have resolved to be the voice of change. We are irrevocably committed to being the voice of impact in our society.
“I have been a journalist for close to two decades. I have been a reporter, a correspondent, a member of an editorial board, a news editor, an editor, and a managing editor. I have worked with an evening newspaper, two national newspapers, and a few online newspapers.
“I have in the course of my career covered several beats like crime, metro judiciary, the State House, politics, and business. I have also done analysis for radio and TV channels. I am currently an analyst on the flagship show of one of the most popular and most-watched TV stations in Nigeria.
“But nothing has given me joy and fulfillment than doing stories and analyses that make the right impact on people. I am talking about stories that have the potential to lift people from the cesspit to the heights of sanity” he said.
He also noted that Diademng would not do stories for the sake of excitement and be financially induced to pull people down.
He added that the news stories, feature stories, news commentaries, and editorials among others on the platform are meant to cause a change.
“When we criticise, we would do so to cause positive change. When we commend, we would do so to inspire change.
“We are people of faith, so, expect zero to hero, rags to riches, a disgrace to grace, and trial to triumph stories. We are the go-to website for stories and articles of positive impact. Our downloadable e-magazine would be unputdownable.”
It is clear that Diademng is not in competition, but an agent of change for Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world.
