Psalm 23:4 KJV
[4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Something is Wrong with My Food!
“What are you cooking”, I asked my husband. He said, “Rice”.
“Why can’t I smell the rice? “, I asked myself.
I thought something was wrong with the rice.
While eating, I was wondering why the food tasted bland. I thought my pregnancy hormones were affecting my taste buds.
Then, I had a quick flashback:
A preacher mentioned losing his sense of smell and taste while sharing a Covid-19 healing testimony.
He and his wife almost died.
God miraculously delivered them from the spirit of death.
It suddenly clicked; nothing was wrong with my food and my pregnancy was not responsible for the bland taste.
Something was wrong with me. Covid-19 had entered my house.
I realized there was more to the fatigue and headaches I was experiencing.
There was more to our little one’s cough and runny nose.
And There was more to my spouse’s body aches and pains.
However, I also remembered there is a God in heaven who is more than what we can imagine.
That day, I took the Covid-19 test and it came back positive a few days later.
Thankfully, my family’s worst days were behind, and we were in good health within 2-3 weeks.

The scripture impressed on my heart all through my family’s recovery period was Psalm 23:4 KJV:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
God assured me that he was with my family, walking us through a fearful and unexpected situation.
This brought me peace. I did not fear that our symptoms would worsen.
God’s Word and assurance of his presence anchored us in the storm.
It is easy to believe God is with us when things are going well.
God wants us to know that He is also there in the valley when life is difficult and unexpected events take place.
And God is with everyone who allows Him to be their shepherd. God leads, protects, and cares for his sheep.

Less Media and More Bible
Prior to my family’s sudden affliction, we spent more time studying the Word than following updates on the pandemic.
This made it easier to trust God for our healing, instead of fearing that our condition might worsen.
God’s Word was dwelling richly in us (Colossians 3:16) and guarding our hearts against the arrow of fear.
Fear kills faster than any disease.
The Word dispels fear and is medicine for our body and soul (Proverbs 4:20-22).
I will be honest that I had a little concern for the child in my womb.
However, God’s Word dispelled my fear.
Psalm 139:13 – For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
That was the Bible verse impressed on my heart when fear showed up. I held onto that Bible verse.
Are you pregnant? You can hold on to Psalm 139:13, meditate on it, and say “God has covered the child in my womb.”
Are you anxious or feeling depressed?
Find what the Bible says about depression and anxiety, meditate on it, believe, and confess the Word.
It is a great blessing that we have the Holy Spirit, our helper, and comforter who brings the right Word to our remembrance (John 14:26).
Can we remember what we have not encountered, heard, or experienced?
I do not think so.
We must spend more time in God’s Word if we want the Holy Spirit to remind us of God’s Word regarding every situation.
Less media and more Bible is good for the spirit, soul, and body.

Saying No to Bitterness and Yes to Thankfulness
My family was confessing “no evil shall befall us nor come near our dwelling” (Psalm 91:10) before Covid-19 entered our home.
When it entered our home, we refused to become bitter and blame God.
We knew the enemy was out to steal our health.
In our weakness, we refused to conclude that confessing God’s Word does not work.
We purposed in our hearts that our experience was not going to change our minds about God’s promises.
So, we stayed thankful.
It was difficult and I cried.
Yet, I stayed thankful.
I felt deeply that questioning God was not the best thing to do during that season.
So, I thanked God even more for his faithfulness to show mercy and heal.
Thankfulness has a wonderful way of eradicating worry.
In thanksgiving, we get to focus on positive things.
When we reflect on the good things God has done, our attention is taken off our worries.
This stirs up hope and gratitude.
God surely knows us so well, that’s why he told us to replace our anxiety and worries with prayer and thanksgiving.
It takes hope to pray, and it takes a heart of gratitude to give thanks.

Do you have unanswered prayers?
Do not give bitterness and doubt a place.
Are you worried about your pregnancy, what your birth experience wI’ll look like, or finances to care for your newborn?
Please, do not worry.
Reflect on God’s goodness.
Think about the numerous times God showed up for you in the past.
And Think about the miracle of life and God’s faithfulness to fulfill what is written in his Word.
Let gratitude and hope arise in you. Give thanks for the victory Jesus already won for you!
Psalm 91:10 KJV
[10] There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

The Inner-circle
Mark 2:4-5NKJV
And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was.
So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.
When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”
It is often more difficult to pray when the body is weak.
I remember having headaches that felt like sharp objects were crawling up my brain.
It was a painful experience and all I wanted was to get well.
My spouse was also weak, but he was able to take care of the family.
During this season, we decided to reach out to a handful of individuals to pray for and with us.
We reached out to individuals who were not too busy to “break the rooftop “, like the friends of the paralytic.
Though We knew these people would be extremely aggressive about our healing. And We did not want to be pitied.
It is important for us to have godly and faith-filled people in our lives.
In moments of weakness and discouragement, pity-parties are not helpful.
We need people who can listen, pray, and spiritually support us.
I love that the Bible says Jesus saw the faith of the paralytic’s friends.
Do not be afraid or ashamed to reach out for spiritual and emotional support.
It does not make you weak. It is a humble thing to do, and it strengthens one’s faith.
Do you need prayer?
Call that prayer line or reach out to someone to pray with you.
Do you have people who can break the rooftop and do all it takes to keep you grounded in faith?
Who is in your inner circle?
Please reflect on these questions.
In difficult times, you do not have to walk alone.
I pray that you will connect with God-fearing people who can support you in moments of weakness. Amen.

Why did this happen to me?
After retaking and testing negative for Covid-19, I wondered why the virus entered my home despite praying that it would not come near my home.
I think it is simply human to wonder why and ask questions.
Was there something I needed to repent of?
Did self-righteousness or unforgiveness give room to sickness?
Or was it just part of life?
I was doing a heart check, and I needed the Word of God to bring to light any darkness in me.
Oh! I was not mad at God.
But I was reflecting and needed a Word from God.
Because I believe that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him (1 Thessalonians 5:18, Romans 8:28).
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God~2 Corinthians 1:3-4.
That was the Bible verse given to me.
My family’s affliction and God’s comfort and healing positioned us to comfort others.
Everyone we share our testimony with bursts out in thanksgiving and they have become less fearful.
I can comfort others because I experienced God’s comfort.
Once again, I learned that the life of a Christian is a life of sacrifice and we can rest in God’s love, even in bad times.
I encourage you to keep hope and faith alive now and beyond.
Do not be afraid.
Trust in God with all your heart. Seek Him with all your heart in good and bad times.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 KJV
[3] Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
[4] who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Remember, God is good, and He is powerful enough to turn around what the enemy meant for evil.
God loves you. Rest in his faithfulness to walk with you in every season.
Remember, Jesus said, “I am with you always.” (Matthew 28:20)
