A champion wrestler has Been Criticized for his Insensitive Comments Regarding Muhammed and About his Christian Faith after winning an NCAA title Saturday.
Penn State wrestler Aaron Brooks, 22, shared his Christian beliefs after securing the victory, crediting the Lord for his triumph.
“It’s everything, Christ’s resurrection is everything,” Brooks said after winning. “Not just his life, but his death and resurrection. You can only get that through Him — the Holy Spirit only through Him.”
It’s what he said next, though, that is sparking controversy. Brooks continued, “No false prophets, no Muhammad or no anyone else. Only Jesus Christ himself.”
The wrestler made his comments while still out of breath following the match, proceeding to also speak about the power of the Holy Spirit.
“Acts 1:8, Power, Holy Spirit power, it’s everything,” he said. “That’s where it’s from. All God. I’m Blessed. It’s all for his glory.”
However, The Tweet has been deleted from the @NCAAWrestling page and although the tweet has been deleted, Comments are still ongoing on Twitter.
While some are not in support some people are Stating the fact that we all have our freedom of speech.
“Aaron Brooks attempted to throw the rock and then hide his hand. He disrespected and called out Muslims on national TV as a representative of a publicly funded institution @pennstateWREST. When called out he responds I love you and am praying for you with a smile.”
According to Umar Lee
“What Aaron Brooks said was protected 1A speech which can not and should not be punished, but the whole spectacle and reaction from the insular wrestling community points to a very real and long-running problem with right-wing radicalism in the sport.”
According to Carlo Ferrandino.
“FunFact: you can practice your faith without sounding like a bigot and dragging someone else’s faith so disrespectfully,” Sarwat Malik tweeted. “Uncalled for, BRAZEN.”
“Freedom of speech. You can openly condemn & hate Christians, Jews, and Hindus. We are told to convert when we live in communities or societies, with a large Muslim pop. #AaronBrooks should NOT apologize! #cair is an apologist org for Islamic militants.”
According to @MarySloppy.

Brooks’ abilities in the sport of wrestling have been virtually unmatched since he became a starter for the Nittany Lions. With him winning 76 bouts in his career, three Big Ten Titles and three NCAA titles, it’s easy to get lost in the waves of accomplishments that the veteran wrestler has achieved.
For Brooks, he keeps it all in perspective with his faith, his teammates and his coaches.
“Like I said, just gratitude. Even coach Cael says it. If you’re grateful for what you have it could be very little. If you’re grateful for what God gave you, you’ll use it to the best of your ability. I’m grateful for everything. I’m grateful for my wins, my losses, the hard days the good days because they all mould me into who I am. Same thing with the program. If we accept it we’re grateful we’re here, we competed,” Brooks said.
