A Federal High Court in Abuja has denied a motion exparte by the Department of State Services to arrest and detain Emefiele on suspicion of terrorism financing and other alleged economic crimes against the nation.
This is coming barely 24 hours after a group of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and some lawyers had embarked on a protest over alleged plans by theDSS to arrest and detain the CBN governor.
Still, on Emefiele, The House of Representatives had summoned the CBN governor to throw more light on a recent policy of the apex bank which seeks to limit cash withdrawals by individuals and corporate organisations from the banks, ATMs and POS operators.
Godwin Emefiele on Tuesday failed to honour a summons to appear before the House of Representatives.
This makes it the second time he has snubbed the House of Reps after he had also failed to honour a summons from them on Thursday last week.
The Deputy Governor, Corporate Services, CBN, Edward Adamu, had in a letter to the House, told the lawmakers that Emefiele was part of the entourage of the President, Muhammadu Buhari on an official trip to the United States.
Even though the president had returned from his trip to the United States, the CBN again wrote the House that Emefiele was still on official assignment, hence he would not be able to appear before them.
