Bishop David Abioye: The Die-Hard Follower.
A Leader of Leaders, A Great Servant of God,
– His Loyalty is a Valuable Lesson for young ministers.
By David Oletu (DCM)
With deep appreciation, Bishop Oyedepo highlighted Bishop Abioye’s strong loyalty:
“He has never caused me pain. Yes. There are people who have not only caused pain; if they have a way of taking my life, they will take it.
But, this one covenant son (Bishop David Abioye) never caused me pain.”
Bishop David Abioye: The Die-Hard Follower.
The world joins Bishop David Olatunji Abioye to celebrate his moment of fulfilment in service to the church,
as he officially retires from Living Faith Church on Friday, 18th October 2024, with a valedictory service.
Some people may wonder why such a vibrant servant is retiring when he still seems strong enough to offer more value.
However, in line with the church’s constitution, which stipulates retirement at 58 (previously 60), Bishop Abioye, now 63, has reached the retirement age.
This thoughtful succession plan allows younger ministers to take over, ensuring the church’s continued growth and renewal.
Although retiring from his official role, Bishop Abioye remains fully active in spreading the gospel by God’s grace.
Bishop David Abioye’s retirement from service is notable not only for his decades-long dedication but also for his resolute loyalty to Bishop David Oyedepo.
This loyalty is a valuable lesson for young ministers.

Hebrews 3:1-4 KJV
[1] Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
[2] who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
[3] For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
[4] For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

In his personal testimony,
Bishop Abioye recounts how he encountered the Lord on January 9, 1977, at a crusade in a neighbouring high institution, just before age 16.
Though he can’t recall the specific message that was shared then, he remembers the profound conviction.
In 1980, long after his born-again experience, Bishop Abioye met Bishop David Oyedepo.
At the time, he was actively involved with the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sabuki, where he learnt evangelical outreach.
However, he gradually transitioned to the Pentecostal movement.
He (Bishop Abioye) was drawn to Bishop Oyedepo’s infectious zeal, sensing a kindred spirit.
This connection sparked a lifelong commitment to supporting Bishop Oyedepo’s vision.
Bishop David Abioye: The Die-Hard Follower.
Bishop David Oyedepo, while celebrating Him (Bishop David Abioye) in one of Winner’s Chapel’s church services/events,
affectionately referred to David Abioye as his “Die-Hard follower,” a son divinely ordained to stand by him from the foundation of the world.
“He had been with me before the mandate was delivered,” Bishop Oyedepo shared.
“and He came earlier than the mandate. He must be part of the mandate that God ordained.”
Bishop Oyedepo fondly recalled their early days together:
“He has gone ahead with me on motorbike.
…He has gone ahead with me, running to where I am coming to let them know I am coming, not that I am not coming.
,…He has partaken of every bit of grace God has made available to this commission.”
