While dating might be rampant and no longer held in high esteem in today’s society, the Bible sure has a say on what to do and what not to do in a relationship. Which is, the Godly way to go about relationships.
Today, we’ll take a look at some Biblical principles on Godly relationships using scriptures.
•Romans 12:1-2
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”
The worldly standard of a real relationship is one where you have a series of loved up pictures and videos to post on Instagram and TikTok, Where you can partake in a series of romantic challenges with your partner and all.
Today’s Relationship standard does not give room for anything godly or holy and as a Christian, If you want to go with the cross and not the world then Romans 12:1-2 is for you.
Emphasis on “DO NOT BE CONFORMED TO THIS WORLD”
•1Corinthians 14-16
DO NOT BE UNEQUALLY YOKED TOGETHER WITH UNBELIEVERS. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God.
Yes, you might have heard various versions of “Religion doesn’t matter, love, matters more” but in the kingdom, honestly, religion does matter cause if not why did the Bible say we should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers?
Meditate on that.
•John 6:44
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him at the last day” (John 6:44).
Do not date to convert your partner to a Christian unless the father asks that of you or you are very sure you received the instruction from above to do so.
Do not date to be the converter or evangelist in the relationship. May God help us all and lead us in the right way so that we might not err.
•Thessalonians 4:3-5
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should ABSTAIN FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY; that each of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God”
“Let’s Normalize Sex” should never come from you and you should never follow this saying unless you’re legally married. Any Sex outside the marriage bed is highly forbidden for us as Christians.
•1 Thessalonians 5:22
“Abstain from every form of evil”
Pay attention to the use of the word “Every” not some and certainly not few forms of Evil. The Bible said Abstain from Every form of evil. Be it clubbing, getting drunk or any other form of evil.
•Proverbs 18:22
“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favour from the LORD”
As a Christian seeking a relationship, Go through the proper approaches. Pray over it, Ask for the proper permissions and don’t just do it according to worldly standards.
Date to get married. Do not date with the mindset of ‘Passing Time’ or Just Cruising Around.
•Proverbs 4:23
“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life”
Guide your heart from all appearances of evil because every action ever acted starts from the thought of the heart. Flee from every thought of evil in or around you.
A successful hack to this is to avoid anything worldly like worldly music that might insinuate Negative thoughts into your mind pornographic videos or images, brethren guard your heart with all diligence.
