The Founder, Pastors and members of House on the Rock, while still grappling with the passing of the mother of their founder Mrs Hilda Adefarasin, have been hit with the devastating loss of Chris Okafor, a talented drummer who had faithfully served the ministry for over 12 years. Chris Okafor unexpectedly passed away after collapsing during a church service last week.
This unforeseen tragedy deeply affected Pastor Adefarasin, who was still in the process of recovering from the emotional pain caused by the loss of his mother. The grieving pastor took to Instagram to share the sad news with the congregation and to honour the memory of the late Okafor.
According to Pastor Adefarasin, Chris Okafor was a vibrant and lively individual whose passion for music greatly enhanced the worship experience for the entire congregation. His deep understanding of music and rhythm brought a unique grace to the church’s services. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when Okafor suddenly slumped during the service. He was immediately rushed to the church’s in-suite clinic for first aid before being transported to the hospital. Despite the swift efforts of those around him, Okafor did not survive.
Pastor Adefarasin, who is not only a spiritual leader but also the organizer and host of Nigeria’s largest gospel concert, offered consoling words to Destiny, the wife of the deceased. He expressed his deepest condolences and assured her that the church community would rally around her, providing unwavering support during her time of need.
In the wake of these heartrending events, the House on the Rock community has come together to mourn the loss of their beloved member and support one another during this difficult time. As they continue to heal, they will undoubtedly remember the lasting impact Chris Okafor had on their lives and honour his memory through their worship and fellowship.
Adefarasin also had a message for Okafor’s wife Destiny. He said, “We put our arms around you, knowing that you hurt so deeply. However, be assured that you are not alone, and we will get through this together.”
To the late drummer’s aged father, the cleric said, “We hope that the memories of Chris will be a constant reminder of his purpose here on earth.”
Church members and others in the body of Christ who knew Chris Okafor also took to social media to mourn the deceased and pray for the repose of his soul, comforted by the knowledge that he is now resting in the bosom of the Lord.
Chris Okafor Aged 37, was married to Destiny Okafor. He is survived by his father and his wife and was a member of the Lagos Metropolitan Gospel Choir (LMGC).
